Berwindglen is equipped with reciprocating engines and Scotch boiler, and Berwindvale with geared turbines and water tube boilers, each burning pulverized coal; principal characteristics of each are: length o.a. 366 ft. 6 in., beam, molded 50 ft.; deadweight Berwindglen 6960 tons, Berwindvale 7050 tons; sea speed loaded 10 knots; total hold capacity 318,000 cu. ft.
