Built by Henry Robb Ltd, Leith; length 175 ft; breadth 28 ft 6 in.; depth to upper decks 13 ft 6 in.; draft 12 ft; propelling machinery of "Rockwood" consists of 8-cyl, 4-stroke Deutz Diesel engine with 280-mm bore by 450-mm stroke developing 500 bhp at 375 rpm, and that of "Lockwood" consists of 7-cyl, 2-stroke Atlas Polar Diesel engine, with 250-mm bore by 450-mm stroke, developing 490 bhp at 325 rpm.
