Effectiveness of two center line and crossbar systems and one Netherlands proposal was tested on basis of data on quality of approach and landing and on pilot's effort to carry them out; data were recorded during flight tests executed by 18 pilots from different countries; interpretation procedure was developed by which mass of recorded data could be reduced to numerical form, suitable for statistical analysis; preference of Netherlands system over two others with regard to directional information and height guidance when passing threshold is indicated.
