Report MP 222 of National Aeronautical and Astronautical Research Institute, Amsterdam, deals with results of comparative flight testing of 3 configurations for approach and runway lighting under simulated conditions of 1000 ft slant visual range; flight tests were carried out at Koeln-Bonn International Airport in Dec 1962 with Lockheed Super-Constellation aircraft; evaluation of flight test results, based on analysis of measured data obtained during 144 landings executed by 24 pilots, show best overall landing performance for second configuration, i.e., reference patterns, suggested during 2nd meeting (1962) of ICAO Visual Aids Panel.
