System called DAIR (Driver Aid, Information, and Routing) developed by General Motors Technical Center, Warren, Mich, which incorporates code and two-way voice radio communication between automobiles and aid and information centers; roadside-to-vehicle voice communications system for transmission of Audio Signs about road ahead; Visual Sign Minder which repeats traffic signs on display panel inside car; Route Minder which guides driver to destination without use of maps or route signs; DAIR was designed to demonstrate unified vehicular communications system of future; concept has not yet been reduced to production stage.
