It is suggested that design of entire ship and all its equipment should be aimed at not less than 12 mo guaranteed trouble-free operation without any lubrication, maintenance, repairs or replacements, and only minimum of cleaning, adjustment or attention; design must also aim at maximum simplicity; specialized equipment must be backed up by worldwide service and repair-by-replacement facilities.
