Series of five cargo liners specially designed for carriage of general and refrigerated cargoes has been developed by Kawasaki Shipyard Co Ltd, of Kobe, Japan; description is given of one of two ships already built, Denmark Maru, which is owned by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd; length oa 496 ft 7 1/8 in., breadth molded 68 ft 9 5/8 in., depth molded 41 ft, full load displacement 15,973 tons, block coefficient 0.595; 8-cyl Kawasaki-MAN engine has maximum continuous rated output of 10,000 shp at 135 rpm; plan.
