Concepts, techniques, and results of organized reliability approach toward ballistic missile flight control systems are summarized; description of Guidance System and Flight Control System, developed by Autonetics; first system must operate continuously over extended period of time whereas second system is activated only periodically and for very brief periods of time; predicted design potential of Minuteman, and flight control group for both silo and flight condition; in-house test results are presented.
