Review of evolution of pneumatic tire, and importance of tire/vehicle system approach in solving tire/wheel and chassis development problems; development and testing program, carried out by Ford Motor Corp, in introducing low aspect ratio car tires; low aspect ratio tire has height-to-width ratio range of 0.650 to 0.850, when mounted on rim having rim-width to tire-width ratio range of 0.670 to 0.750; conventional tires have height-to-width ratio range of 0.870 to 1.000; characteristics of low aspect ratio tires and advantages.
