Tests of electric locomotives of Swedish railways for adhesion coefficient to rails during traction indicate that coupled axles increase traction; probability of slipping is investigated for free and coupled axles, slow and fast variation in tractive effort, dry and wet conditions; electric and mechanical methods of increasing adhesion are included.
