Adhesion coefficient was examined in friction braking of brake testing car on grade section; two-axle remodeled WAMU 2300 type box car was used for tests; generator for speed-meter and slip-ring apparatus for wheel load measurement were attached on one side of axle for brake torque measurement, and slip protection equipment on other; static axle load was 6.8 tons; brake torque was increased until axle began to slip, and adhesion force was measured by special frame mechanism; rail condition was controlled as dry, wet, sanded, or both wet and sanded.
