With electrification of London Midland Region of British Railways nearing completion, training large numbers of drivers to handle electric locomotives has become important; simulator is based on 3500 hp 25 kv a-c locomotive, and is said to simulate all sounds and effects experienced on road; in addition, route is depicted in front of cab window on film; this film, which covers some 16 mi of track, is in color and moves at speed which is proportional to train speed being reproduced.
