Report describes survey of axle-load distribution carried out on four main roads as part of Road Research Laboratory's research program to develop methods of pavement design appropriate to tropical and subtropical countries; nearly 7000 axles of heavy commercial vehicles were weighed using prototype electronic weighing unit and values measured were related to type of vehicle, degree of loading, direction of travel and commodities carried; spectrum of axle loadings obtained is compared with that of other countries.
