With cylinder bore and piston stroke of 930 mm and 1700 mm respectively, new engine is development of previous KZ types initially introduced in 1951; engine is constructed having 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12 cylinders, covering range of outputs of from 15,000 to maximum of 30,000 bhp; Siemens automatic remote control system operates on principle of automatic electrical speed control in conjunction with programmed sequence control; 9-cyl production engine will be fitted in 62,000 ton dw Sankt Nikolai, under construction for Tankschiff Reederei Rudolf A.Oetker, and now fitting out at Howaldtswerke, Hamburg yard.
