Sketch shows Camden's present arrangement of machinery compared with Diesel plant consisting of 2500-i.hp. main engine, 400-kw. submarine charging set and three 100-kw. generating units supplying electrically driven pumps, winches and auxiliary machinery; considers factor of space; there would result saving of about 42,000 cu. ft. on Camden; overall upkeep of engineering plant would be much less than with steam; military advantages of Diesel.
