Report gives result of study commissioned by British Ministry of Transport and City of Manchester to provide reliable information on how more novel transit concepts would compare with systems in use, from viewpoint of passengers and residents in community; steel-wheel-on-steel-rail system or "Duorail" was recommended; it was concluded that rapid transit system for Manchester would most economically be developed by taking maximum advantage of British Railways tracks or rights-of-way.
