Station is located 150 mi northeast of Los Angeles, Calif, in Mojave Desert; it is now city of about 12,000 inhabitants, and comprises some 2000 buildings; special emphasis is on development of rocket weapons, guided missiles, and aviation ordnance; there is 9000-ft runway, and hangars capable of handling B-29's which are used for joint Army-Navy high altitude research; materials test laboratory; heat treating and foundry unit; heavy machine shop; weather test rooms; etc.
