Description of Diesel electric grid system installed in plant of Pedro de Valdivia, which is owned and operated by Lautaro Nitrate Co, Ltd, about 100 mi north of port of Antofagasta, Chile; power house contains five 4700-hp double acting 2-cycle air injection, MAN Diesel engine generators, which produce power at 60 cycles and 6600 v; about 20 mi north of plant is similar plant called "Maria Elena," which has Diesel engine power house with 24,000-hp installed capacity.
