Object of voyage was to reveal ranges to be provided for in instruments for full scale trials, frequencies of alternating forces and motions, and to obtain records of weather and sea conditions, wave systems, wind directions and forces which would be as free as possible from personal error; various types of instruments for each purpose were used.
