PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fail-safe method of a railroad crossing obstacle detector, in which a fail-safe property is realized by using one object detection sensor having versatility and a novel reference mark.SOLUTION: A fail-safe method of a railroad crossing obstacle detector includes: one object detection sensor 2 having a sensing function for detecting presence/absence and a position of an object at a railroad crossing by using projection and reception of light; an obstacle detecting logic section 3 with logic for comprehensively determining information on the presence/absence and position of an object that is transmitted from the object detection sensor, and information on presence/absence of a railroad crossing alarm and the like, in order to discriminate whether the object is an obstacle or not; and a reference mark 5 disposed at least at one spot within a detection area of the object detection sensor. The obstacle detecting logic section 3 controls variation in intensity (strong/weak) of a reflection rate and a light emission amount of the reference mark, and verifies whether reflected light from the sensor is returned at a reflection level according to the variation control of the intensity (strong/weak), by using a reflection level from the reference mark received from the object detection sensor. Accordingly, a fail-safe property of a railroad crossing obstacle detector is realized for the whole system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】 汎用性のある1台の物体検知センサと新規な基準標を用いて、フェールセーフ性を実現することのできる踏切障害物検知装置のフェールセーフ方法を提供する。【解決手段】 踏切道における物体の有無や位置を投受光により検知するセンシング機能を有する1台の物体検知センサ2と、物体検知センサから送信される物体の有無、位置、及び踏切警報の有無等の情報を総合判断し、該物体が障害物か否かを判定する論理を有する障害物検知論理部3と、物体検知センサの検知エリア内に少なくとも1ヶ所設置された基準標5と、を有している。障害物検知論理部3は、前記基準標の反射率や発光量の大小(強弱)の変化を制御する一方、物体検知センサから受信する基準標からの反射レベルが、この大小(強弱)の変化制御に応じた該センサからの反射レベルの反射光が帰還するか否かを照合することによりシステム全体として踏切障害物検知装置のフェールセーフ性を実現する。【選択図】 図2
