To enable detection of an obstacle with low reflectivity and suppress false notification of the presence of the obstacle in a railroad crossing obstacle detection system.SOLUTION: A railroad crossing obstacle detection system (18) includes: a laser radar device (25) which includes irradiation units (46, 42, 44, 48) that emit laser light and a light reception unit (47) that receives the reflected laser light, and which is arranged such that the irradiation units emit the laser light toward the ground in a detection area; a distance measurement unit (62) which measures a distance to an object at each irradiation angle; an interpolation unit (63) which interpolates a distance at an abnormal irradiation angle at which the measured distance deviates from a normal distance range on the basis of the distance within the normal distance range at at least one of the irradiation angles before and after the abnormal irradiation angle; and a notification unit (64) which issues a notification when it is considered that the measured or interpolated distance has changed from the expected distance to the expected ground at each irradiation angle, and does not issue the notification when it is considered that the measured or interpolated distance has not changed from the expected distance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
