A mobile robot (100) capable of autonomously moving is provided with: a safe region acquisition unit (154) that, when an abnormality of the mobile robot (100) is detected during autonomous movement of the mobile robot (100), acquires information relating to a safe region in which the mobile robot (100) can stop, the safe region being a region determined on the basis of the situation around the mobile robot (100); and a control unit (110) that, when an abnormality of the mobile robot (100) is detected during autonomous movement of the mobile robot (100), moves the mobile robot (100) to the safe area on the basis of the information relating to the safe area.
