This chapter explores railway information modeling (RIM), that is, the management of railway projects by integrating the building information modeling (BIM) approach. It describes remainder of the fundamentals of BIM; BIM and the legal environment of the projects; the prerequisites and integration framework of BIM; railway project management with BIM; the dimensions of BIM; BIM, prefabrication and construction; and life cycle with BIM. The chapter discusses a framework for life cycle management with a BIM approach. It reviews the different dimensions of BIM in project management. The adoption of BIM as an approach to manage the reference project has validated the results of the literature review. BIM is not a technology, software or a 3D representation. It is a new way of managing big projects by bringing back collaboration, visualization and optimization.
