This chapter looks to reach the heart of the question of military activities in space. There are three foreseeable stages for the future of military operations in space. The chapter first details support that provided by space technology affecting other environments. Second, it focuses on actual space weaponization. Third, the chapter looks at space martialization, which would involve disguising or concealing space military technology from international governing bodies. Three main categories of space weapons are recognized: those used in the context of ballistic missile‐defense, space‐to‐earth‐weapons (STEW) and anti‐satellite weapons. The chapter concerns antimissiles and STEW and also focuses on the consequences of the appearance of a space offensive in the conventional aeroterrestrial and aeronaval theatre of operations. The futuristic weapons, able to deal with targets in an environment straight from space, would be the way to develop a strategy of space interdiction on the same principle as an air interdiction.
