This chapter introduces some of the basic concepts of vibration analysis for single degree of freedom (SDoF) discrete parameter systems. It analyzes the determination of the free and forced vibration response of an SDoF system to various forms of excitation relevant to aircraft loads. The idea is to introduce some of the core dynamic analysis methods (or tools) for usage in aircraft aeroelasticity and loads calculations. The chapter focuses on frequency response function for harmonic forced vibration, the time domain solution for transient/random forced vibration, the frequency domain solution for transient forced vibration, and the frequency domain solution for random forced vibration. The chapter ends with some examples based on the concepts discussed in the chapter.
