Modern technology‐facilitated green transportation systems are becoming popular around the world due to their positive contributions to the economic and environmental sustainability of the societies and communities they serve. This chapter presents an overview of the techno‐economic‐environmental approaches and benefits of green transportation systems to emphasize their applicability in today's world. To do so, some striking advantages and familiar modes of green transportation systems are described to begin with. A number of existing and future technologies are introduced in this chapter that are conducive to operating green transportationin eco‐friendly, energy‐efficient, comfortable, safe, and secure ways. Further, green transportations are assessed from both economic and environmental points of view. The analyses, based on contemporary literature and statistical facts, demonstrate that sustainable transportation systems can certainly provide cost savings to vehicle owners, create numerous jobs to benefit society, lower toxic emissions from vehicles to protect the environment, and improve human health status by integrating health concerns into transport management policies.
