This study offers a thorough investigation into the feasibility and potential benefits of implementing electric buses for student transportation services at the Green University of Bangladesh. In the midst of global concerns about the environmental impact of fossil fuel-dependent transportation, this research presents electric vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable alternative. Dhaka, as one of the world's most populous and congested megacities, grapples with severe traffic congestion and alarming air quality. To address these challenges, EVs emerge as a promising solution, capable of curbing pollution and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Utilizing the Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Renewables (HOMER) software, the study conducts simulations to assess system viability. The LCOE is determined to be approximately ∃0.013 USD/kWh, while the ROI and IRR stand at 8.8% and 12%, respectively, with a reasonable payback period of 7.6 years. These findings collectively reinforce the attractiveness of electric buses as a sustainable and economically sound solution.
