This paper reports on results obtained in experimental tests carried out on three models of a bumber (for an industrial vehicle) each linked to a supporting structure under conditions similar to those in real use. For each test, an assigned static force was applied to a specific part of the bumber, different from one set to another, and the sets were measured as created in a number of specific points. Conditions of application of variable loads were analyzed and the different conditions under which the sets were detected after various time lapses from the time at which the force was applied were also considered. Last, the influence on the final results of the different tightening force applied at the connecting points was examined. The experimental results are also compared with the corresponding results supplied by FEM calculation codes on isotrope type models.
