This paper discusses an application of the computer control technique in the intelligent system. This system uses an omnibearing photoelectric detector as the special purpose input device, and a microcomputer as the master controller for the image detection and accurate fixed position to the detector at arbitrary moment, which is primarily used for real-time inspecting and recognizing the quality of inner walls of high-accuracy metal pipes in the oil and chemical industry, and which fundamental functions include the information acquisition, image processing and recognition, classification and output display.
