Advanced computer hardware and software is making it increasingly realistic to solve complex problems in ship and propeller hydrodynamics using numerical methods. The application of this technology is described in detailin this article. CFD methods can be applied for resistance and flow, propellers and cavitation, seakeeping and manoeuvring. The content of this article is based on papers held at the International CFD Conference earlier this year in Ulsteinvik, Norway
