The cyclic strain approach allows the fatigue strength assessment of notched components based on the local elastic-plastic strain in the notch root and the crack initiation life of a correspondingly stressed specimen of the same material. part 2 of the investigations on welded joins focusses on computations of the local nonlinear behaviour of structural components (T-joint, frame corner with bracket). The applicabiloty of Neubers rule instead of performing extensive finite element calculation is shown. In addition, investigations concerning the scatter of local weld geometry and material data including corresponding statistical parameters are described. The total scatter calculated for an example is shown to be the same order asthat usually observed in constant amplitude fatigue tests
