An autonomous land vehicle called the PRV I (Postech Road Vehicle I) was constructed as a test vehicle. This experimental system is driven by two 500 watts DC motors with PID (Proportional, Integral and Differential) control. Road following algorithms are based on conventional computer vision technique and on neural networks. These algorithms use CCD camera images as direct inputs, and outputs are steering angle and velocity of the vehicle. Robustness of the developed algorithms was assessed by testing PRV I with various outdoor environment on a paved road around the campus.
