A brief review of thermosetting polymers, their properties and processing techniques will be made. Examples will show the commercial use of thermosetting materials in conjunction with other processes such as jointing and painting. The issues of energy and recycling will be discussed with particular reference to cost effectiveness and end-use performance. Projects sponsored within the EC will demonstrate the material producers' commitment to develop materials and processes beneficial to the automotive industry.
