Continuous silicon carbide (SiC) fiber reinforced metals (FRM) have been successfully applied on numerous aerospace development programs fulfilling primary design objectives of high specific strength over baseline monolithic materials. This presentation will review the current state-of-the-art in silicon carbide fiber reinforced metals through discussion of their application. Discussion will include a review of mission requirements, program objectives and accomplishments to data employing these FRMs.
