Continuous silicon carbide (SiC) filament (SCS) reinforced metals (FRM) have been successfully integrated into on numerous aerospace development programs fulfilling primary design objectives of high specific strength over baseline monolithic materials. This presentation will review the current state-of-the-art in silicon carbide filament reinforced metals through discussion of their applications. Discussion will include a review of mission requirements, program objectives and accomplishments to date employing these FRMs.
