Mechanically alloyed materials have established an outstanding record of performance as the hot section components in military jet engines for more than 12 years. In industrial applications, the acceptance of MA alloys has been slower in developing. This review examines the benefits MA alloys have to offer for demanding high-temperature applications in terms of strength, resistance to enviromental attack and other criteria for industrial acceptance. The second part of the paper reviews some specific examples of MA materials being used in industries involved with thermal processing glass procesisng, and energy production.
