The advent of high performance supercomputers along with modern simulation software has had a significant impact on the automotive industry. Large scale structural analysis, crashworthiness analysis, flow analysis, and engine combustion modeling are among the computational methods being used increasingly during the design phase. The ETA Systems ETA10 family of supercomputers was recently introduced and is now being used for automotive simulations using industry standard software such as MSC/NASTRAN, DYNA3D and FIDAP.
