Whilst motorway widening is being planned and executed, it is all too easy to become engrossed in the concrete, trenches, cables, transponders and so on. At times with any engineering task it is necessary to look forward, imagine what is being created, ask if it satisfies both the present needs and the needs of the future and explore exactly how it can be used to optimum effect.
