Idealized mathematical model to assist in formulating fundamental principles for design of highway networks is dealt with; it is assumed that trips are generated with equal frequency at all points in infinite plane, and that destinations are equally likely to lie in any direction; report gives analysis for highway network which divides area into hexagons; it was found that for all values of various parameters, average journey times for hexagonal and square networks with same lengths of highway per unit area are nearly same, within few percent.
