It is necessary that railway signalling equipment is free from interference under all credible failures of the traction equipment, as false operation of track circuits or other signalling equipment could have disastrous results. In the case of Networker One on BR Southern Region the Reed track circuits are used for signalling along with the S0 Hz circuits and the TI 21 frequencies.
