Describes the background to the use of a number of Hinfinity methods in the design of a decoupled control system for a VSTOL aircraft at an operating point of 120 knots. The author focuses on robustness of multivariable control designs and explains the criteria by which the robustness of designs is assessed. The author discusses the application of various Hinfinity methods and presents conclusions.
