The DRIVE (dedicated road infrastructure for vehicle safety in Europe) programme is an initiative of the Commission of the European Community with the objectives of improving road safety, improving road transport efficiency, and reducing environmental pollution. These objectives are to be achieved through the application of road transport informatics (RTI) both to road vehicles and to the roadside infrastructure. An overview of the programme is given.
