The advent of commercially available image capture and transmission technology has greatly improved secondary image dissemination. Intra-theater tactical image capture is possible with new electronic filmless cameras. The impact this new technology has on C3I systems and intelligence architectures must now be explored. Specific advances include those that have solved the time, film and transmission problems. These advances include compression and error correction technology, using filmless image capture systems, and small, less expensive tactical image transceiver configurations.
