The authors demonstrate long-haul WDM transmission with a total capacity up to 80 Gb/s. They also describe enabling techniques to WDM system such as gain equalization and chromatic dispersion compensation. Furthermore, they briefly summarize a result of 20 Gb/s transmission over 3000 kmm using optical phase conjunction (OPC) technique, which is promising for a future WDM system.
