DYNAGUIDE is a concpet developed by Volvo for receiving, selecting and presenting Traffic Information via RDS/TMC. The DYNAGUIDE system is considered as a possible second generation RDS/TMC receiver. It is based on a graphic, color display and uses a simple symbol language for presenting RDS/TMC messages to the driver. One hundred receiver units have recently been produced for evaluation of the DYNAGUIDE concept, as well as of RDS/TMC-based traffic information in general. The primary test area is in Gothenburg where RDS/TMC information is an important part of the Test Site West Sweden program. TMC tansmission according to ALERT-C started there in December 1991. This paper deals with the DYNAGUIDE concept, i.e. the principls for selecting and presenting TMC messages, as well as the realization of the in-vehicle unit. It also gives an overview of the total system setup used in the Gothenburg field trial.
