Several novel electrochemical storage systems based on aluminum anodes and aqueous solution phase redox couples are presented. Systems discussed include Aluminum/Sulfur batteries (theoretical energy capacity 1070 Whr/kg). Aluminum/Ferricyanide batteries (theoretical energy capacity 227 Whr/kg), and Aluminum/Permanganate batteries (theoretical energy capacity 1380 Whr/kg).
