This paper describes recent work at Lucas in developing sensors and signal processing for collision avoidance. Results are presented that show the success of vehicle detection and lane marking detection using a video camera and a 94 GHz-microwave radar. Also discussed is research that is currently in progress that aims to combine the measurements from these sensors to give improved results.
