Computers play a major, and increasing, part in today's motor cars. The quest for lighter cars leads towards the use of exotic materials and processes in the car's structure. The combination of these two trends presents the electronic engineer with a difficult environment, probably poorly understood. Some experience exists: constraints of the above combination and findings are discussed, with a conclusion based on experience of composite vehicle electrics.
