The methodology of assembling GaAs solar cells into circuits for use on space-craft solar arrays is addressed in this paper. Particular attention is given to the cell interconnects, the method of inteconnection and nondestructive diagnostics that verify cell performance has not deteriorated due to the manufacturing procedures. In addition, the issue of reverse bias in GaAs circuits and it's prevention is addressed. The development of a new design for LPE GaAs cells has resulted in lot average efficiency of 17.5 % with improved weld tolerance. Silver-plated Kovar interconnects have been successfully welded for the first time with little or no degradation and 45 deg pull strengths/weld in excess of 200 gms. Attrition for circuit assembly has ben reduced.
