A review on the measurement criteria and weathering test used to analyze the durability of powder coatings for the automobile industry. Topics discussed include weathering (solar radiation, effects of heat and coldness, the physical and chemical effects of moisture, industrial pollutants), weathering forms (geographical location of finished product, altitude above sea level, local conditions, irregular weather conditions, seasonal changes, exact position of the object relative to the sun's ray, environmental pollution, desert conditions), outdoor weathering tests (accelerated and natural), damage resistance, corrosion resistance, EMMAQUA test, and future prospects. In order to guarantee a reliable and consistent coating technology, it is necessary that all those involved in the development process cooperate closely.
